  1. STEM Recruitment & Outreach Coordinator
    The STEM Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator recruits students for STEM programs in the College of Science, coordinates the College’s STEM summer camp, and provides science education programming to the community. The incumbent is responsible for developing, planning and implementing recruitment initiatives for students, including under-represented populations. The initiatives includes, but are not limited to, conducting regular visits to high schools and establishing collaborations that showcase EKU STEM programs in a positive light. The Coordinator is also responsible for facilitating tours of the College of Science facilities, including the Science Building, by groups of prospective students/K–12 schools. Additionally the Coordinator is responsible for implementing the STEM summer camp, including marketing, working with STEM programs to provide experiential content, and all appropriate logistics. Furthermore, the Coordinator works with the Division of Natural Areas in providing science education programming for K–12 schools on campus and at Eastern Kentucky University’s Natural Areas.

AdvanceKentucky STEM Coordinator: Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC), a Lexington-based independent and innovative 501(c)(3) non-profit and leader in developing and managing creative initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, disruptive R&D, economic competitiveness and workforce development, seeks a full-time STEM Coordinator to coordinate activities across AdvanceKentucky's K-12 STEM programs. 
    Position Summary: Support an increasing number of schools participating in the College Readiness Program, CS Initiatives, Access to Algebra, and Makerminded programs. Utilize educational background, content knowledge, and networks to engage teachers and students in STEM/Advanced Manufacturing opportunities. EKU Division of Natural Areas, who manages our three field stations, is searching for an Assistant Manager of  Lilley Cornett Woods Appalachian Ecological Research Station, which is an old-growth forest with a research and learning center, bunkhouse, and other facilities.   6. The Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves is hiring two Natural Areas Technicians to assist our Natural Areas Managers improve rare species habitat and hiking trails throughout Kentucky. These are 9-month term positions, 37.5 hours per week, $12.34 per hour.
    Minimum qualifications include: • At least thirty credit hours in college biology, natural resources, or related field. • A valid driver's license. • Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, string trimmers, leaf blowers, brush cutters, power tools, pump units, ATV and 4WD vehicles. • Ability to do strenuous labor and lift and carry fifty-pound objects (backpacks, etc.) for long periods of time under adverse field conditions and uneven terrain. • Willingness and ability to travel overnight for up to a week at a time (state vehicle will be provided, meals and lodging will be reimbursed). • Individuals should be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision. • Individuals with good plant identification skills are preferred. • Individuals with experience operating tractors or skid steer is preferred.
