Brescia University Lab Coordinator/Instructor for Chemistry and Biology-PR# 13-02



Brescia University, a Catholic liberal arts university in the Ursuline tradition, seeks a lab coordinator/instructor for Chemistry and Biology. The position is non-tenure track (annually renewable) and will be approximately half-time instruction and half-time administrative.

GOALS

  • The position requires a minimum of a M.S. degree in either discipline with graduate courses that provide experience in both disciplines (e.g., biotechnology or environmental science). Teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duties and responsibilities:
  • -Teach introductory lectures and labs for a total of 6-7 contact hours per semester. The ideal candidate will be able to teach general chemistry labs, introductory chemistry for pre-nursing, introductory biology for non-majors, and introductory environmental science for nonmajors.
  • -Lab coordination for labs in both departments. Responsibilities include ordering supplies and lab set-up and clean up.
  • -Supervision of work study students.
  • -Maintaining chemical inventory and managing the chemical hygiene plan.
  • -Maintenance of equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the zoology major to its full potential
  • Teach a variety of courses to Zoology and Biology majors including but not limited to: General Biology, Ecology, and other courses appropriate to the major at the upper level based on the applicants’ expertise
  • Encourage and oversee relevant faculty-student research
  • Advise students
  • Contribute your professional expertise to the college and larger external community
